The basic goal in all Mini Golf games is to sink the ball into the cup in the fewest shots possible, and Mini Golf Madness is no exception to that rule. The fewer shots it takes to sink the ball, the better your score and the more Tokens you'll win.

Unlike most other Pogo games, Mini Golf Madness features a menu system that allows you to choose which course you'd like to play.

There are two kinds of courses:
- "Standard" Pogo courses: These courses are always available, and the list will grow over time. There will be a total of four courses available to start (including one Club Pogo-exclusive course), but new courses will be added over time, so keep coming back to look for more new holes to play! Club Pogo members will have access to more exclusive Mini Golf Madness courses over time.

- "Weekly" courses: As you might expect from the name, these courses are generated every week by randomly pulling holes from the current "Standard" courses. That means you'll see holes you've already played before but in an entirely different order than you're used to, making for a whole new game experience! Weekly courses will be available for several months before being cleared from the list.

You can see how difficult a course is in one of two ways - either by reading the course description, or by looking at the icon to the right of the course name. A bronze ball represents an easy course, a silver ball represents a medium course, and a gold ball represents a hard course.

Once you've selected the course you want to play, you can choose from 3 different options: Front 9, Back 9, or Full Course. Playing the front or back 9 is good for practicing and honing your Mini Golf game skills, but you won't get a Jackpot Spin unless you play through a full 18-hole course. Some future courses may only have 9 holes - in that case only the Full Course button will be available.

So before you can shoot the ball, you have to place the ball on the tee. When you start a new hole, the game will give you some information about new elements you haven't seen before. After clearing out these dialogs, you'll have the opportunity to place the ball anywhere on the tee. Of course, before you decide where to tee up, you might want to know more about the hole - like the best path to approach from.

The camera starts zoomed as far from the hole as possible, but you can zoom into the hole to focus down on whatever details you find most important. There are a few ways to do this using the Zoom Meter, which is located on the golf bag in the lower-right corner of the screen. You can either click the +/- signs at the top and bottom of the bar, grab and drag the Zoom slider, or click anywhere along the Zoom bar to instantly move to that zoom level. You can also roll the mouse wheel to quickly and easily adjust the zoom level. Clicking the mouse wheel button will return the camera to the most zoomed out view.

The interface for shooting the ball in Mini Golf Madness is fairly simple - move the aiming line where you want the ball to go, pull away from the ball to set the strength of your shot, then click the left mouse button to shoot. Simple, right? Don't worry about inadvertently shooting the ball when you click to pan the screen, either - we detect movement before you release the mouse button, so you won't shoot by accident.

Just like regular Mini Golf, the lower your score, the better you're doing. Each hole has a "Par" setting, which tells you the average number of "strokes" expected to complete the hole - shooting more shots than that puts you over Par, while shooting less puts you under Par. No matter what the Par value of the hole is, the rating of your success is the same, according to this chart.

Here are some tips and tricks to becoming an expert at Mini Golf games.

If you're new to the game, take a minute to get a feel for the Mini Golf Madness interface.Aiming and shooting is pretty simple, but get used to hitting shots of different speeds and see how the ball responds. Also, try panning and zooming around the first few holes to get used to the controls - once you've got that down, it will make things a lot easier as you play on.

You probably won't get an amazing score the first time through a new course, but that's okay! They're meant to be difficult to master, but it is possible to score below Par - sometimes even more than one shot below Par - on each and every hole in the game. (Trust us, we built them!)

Pay close attention to how the ball bounces off walls and obstacles, and especially what happens to the ball when it rolls over course features like sand, rough, and ice. You'll have to take the effect of these hazards into account on most shots in order to get good scores in Mini Golf Madness.

On certain shots (especially from the tee), it may be possible to align the aiming vector with a landmark - such as a particular bend in a wall or nearby obstacle - to help you line up a reliable shot.

If you're close to the cup, be careful with how hard you shoot the ball. It is possible for the ball to go so fast that it loops around or "skips" over the cup.

It's easy to forget about your power-ups sometimes in Mini Golf Madness, but that would be a crying shame - some of them can really help you out when the situation calls for it. If you forget what they do, just mouse over a power-up icon to see its description again.

Playing a 9-hole course won't get you a Jackpot Spin, but it will give you an opportunity to play a specific set of holes over and over until you master them. You'll still win Tokens and earn rank progress, too!

Mini Golf Madness • Negative Posts and Complaints about Pogo on the Forums

By pogo_Maul » May 11th, 2012, 6:02 pm

Due to the many current issues affecting members game play the Pogo Forums are receiving a lot of negative and unconstructive feedback. We are aware of the issues largely related to those unhappy with Embedded Game Pages (EGP), whether it be the design/lack of Pop-ups, or Games loading slowly, not able to continue after one game, or simply not loading at all. We are researching those issues and hope to have solutions in the coming weeks.

Because of the many current, common, and overly repeated complaints, and threats of unsubscribing we are simply going to remove or consolidate such posts as they simply are over burdening our Forum’s community in general. I would like to be clear, we are not ignoring these complaints and the issues that are triggering them. We are simply trying to maintain the forums as a relatively peaceful place where members can communicate in a positive and constructive manner.

Our Mods are here trying to help. If they remove a post it is because they are following Pogo’s and EA’s guidelines. If they feel for any reason that a post is negative or may incite negative responses they are well within their given powers to remove such a post.

Mini Golf Madness • Re: why aren't hole-in-ones birdies?

By daisypetals01 » May 11th, 2012, 3:54 am

lol..
I just finished that badge and it was painful!!!
It has made me dislike m-i-n-i g-o-l-f...for now. (it's not a dirty word! Ummm..well..right now it is..lol..)
The only thing that made it less painful was finding courses that weren't so easy to get a "hole in one". They were courses that were heavy with par three holes. Then I used my power-ups diligently.

Yes, it's a drain on the computer and I found that IE worked the best and I only did 3-4 courses at a time.

They can only be one thing, same as in Real Life golf. And you can imagine that in Real Life golf, no one would claim a birdie when they could instead claim a hole-in-one. ;)

Thank you Mod_Skratty..now I understand, back to my badge! :)

sometimes games will not load because you do not have the new updated java. Remove you old java and download new version.

OK here are just a few questions for all of the above poster. What happens when you try to load? what browser? What kind of connection? Anything that might give other forum members (this is a members forum not a direct line to EA/Pogo) a clue about what might help you load your games.

Mini Golf Madness • Pogo is listening! :)

By pogo_Maul » May 10th, 2012, 6:30 pm

We know a lot of our members, Free and Club, have been having various ongoing and continuous issues with using our site for the last several weeks and month. We are working hard to try and narrow down the causes of these wide ranging problems.

The Game Loading and not being able to continue after playing a game are two of the largest issues that we are researching right now. We have been working directly with a few members to try and narrow down the symptoms and possible resolutions.

We have found a few things so far that are preventing players from normal game play, including certain browser add-ons and security settings. In many cases simply resetting the browser to its default settings and disabling add-ons that are not necessary for playing our games will resolve the problem.

We are still gathering information and as we do so, we will try to figure out if there are any adjustments we can make on our end so that these settings and add-ons do not interfere with people’s ability to play on Pogo. In some cases we may need to provide our users with more details on how they can make adjustments on their end so that they can continue playing. More details and information will be provided as they become more solid.

In addition to that, we also continue to look into the issues with Pop-up Game Windows, not being able to purchase Gems, various abuse issues, as well as new and old bugs.

We understand that these last few months with changes to our site, games, and EA Support have been very trying and we are indeed working to improve the experience for our fans. We greatly appreciate your patience.

note: I have locked this post because the issues mentioned are already being discussed by you and our other members in existing topics.

Mini Golf Madness • Most of us know this...

By Ram81067 » April 23rd, 2012, 9:44 am

One thing I forget every once in a while, is to clean the computer. I noticed a lot of complaints are how slow games load for some of you. As most of you already know, cleaning and updating your computer will make games load so much faster and with a whole lot less problems all together. Yes freezing is a problem at times with pogo games, however, I don't think that it's pogo fault. Anytime my computer freezes while in pogo, I go all of the way out, and restart the computer, and continue with pogo games. After doing so everything works perfect. And because I clean my computer, I encounter very few problems. I hope everyone can have no problems at all with their computers.

Why bother having this or any other game as a challenge when most people can't get the dang thing to load???? Another challenge gone undone because the game won't load; maybe POGO doesn't want my money any more!!

Agreed, the embedded games are horrible, (they won't let you say they have a lot of suction). I've had most of the games freeze up right before the game is finished, no credit for the game. I've decided pogo must hate it's customers and is working hard to get rid of them all. Too bad, it used to be a great place to play! :x

Mini Golf Madness • Inbedded games

By Cajolais886 » April 22nd, 2012, 5:17 pm

I too am having a great deal of troble with the games of late. Mini golf is only one of them. After being a paiying member for so many years and also paying for an extra account for grandson I feel like I am being taken advantage of. Many challenges will not load properly, will not activate and give credit when challenge is earned. This is frustrating. I hve even had problems with mix n match badges not being granted when earned and have had to do them several times before being credited with them. This is beginning to feel like Pogo is just a money grab not "all in for the players" thing, Usaed to enjoy daily games etc. but not any more will not renew my 2 memberships in the fall.
